This trimester I feel that I have grown skill-wise in photography. At the beginning of this class I didn't think it would make me a better photographer, I just expected pictures pictures pictures. But there is a lot that goes into taking a photograph. Before this class I didn't think about what would make the shot better. I just simply pointed and shot and I was done. Now, it takes me at least five minutes to get one perfect shot because my mind is racing with ideas of where I could position myself and how I can set the camera. I am amazed at how much I have improved and hope that I keep improving because of this class.
I've noticed that I enjoy taking bright photos that portray a happy emotion because pictures like that not only make me feel good about myself but make others in a good mood. I've also noticed that I am never happy with a photo I take that is straight on or a persons eye view. I always end up getting on the ground or point my camera straight down or even up. I really enjoy taking pictures of nature; Preferably macro of flowers and other close ups. Not only do I enjoy it but I also feel that I am the best at nature portraits. Not many of my photos have the average persons-eye-view shot and many of my stronger photos are close ups with shallow depth of fields and mostly of nature.
I think that these photos, out of all of the photos I have taken deserve to have the title 'Best of the Best' because they are the types of pictures that you have to work for to get perfect and need prior knowlege of the techique and dynamics of photography. For instance, a technique like shutter speed that we learned this year in photography one is not an easy subject. You can't simply take one photo and call it good. It takes time and effort that I decided to put in on many of my photos. I also chose all of these photos because I think that they appeal to the eye the most with color and difficulty. I especially like the picture of the hazel eye and the sunglasses reflection because they both have a center focus that is easy to spot and have colors that blend well together to fit the mood of the picture. The difference between my best from my good is mainly that in my good photos it can be noticed that I lack nechnique and experience. Also they might not be as appealing and unique than others.
My favorite project was probably the 'Lighting Technique' assignment because I feel proud of all of my photos in that project but it was time consuming and took someone experienced to fully capture the concept. five of my photos in this album are lighting which shows that I am confident in this subject. Another project that stood out to me was the 'Thematic' assignment. I liked this one because it wasn't an average photo assignment. I lilke to be challenged and this project made me think outside the box of photography and I really enjoyed it.
5. If I had the trimester to do this class all over again I honestly feel that I would not change anything that I did. I feel like I have grown from the beginning of the class and that is exactly what I wanted. I succeeded way more than I imgined. I would have never of thought that this class would give me the opprotunity to place in the Art Show and even get my very own picture in the West Senior High library. I am proud of what I have accomplished in this class.
